I don't care what anyone says. Stanford and Cal should be on the list for B1G expansion. Both Cal and Stanford would placate the academic desires, reduce travel for the west coast schools, and make ND/Stanford a conference game should ND decide to ultimately join.
I am also projecting FSU, Miami(FL), and Georgia Tech in addition to ND.

@@Mike-sp7zv they are interested in FSU. But the SEC has first dibs on them. The SEC will eventually have to expand as well and they are prioritizing a geographical footprint with FSU (and possibly Clemson) at the forefront of their expansion. Barring UF doesn’t whine, there’s a mutual interest between them. From what I’m hearing, I don’t believe Miami is on the B1G’s radar ahead of UNC/NC State, Virginia and even Georgia Tech has been gaining more traction. So there is a chance No Florida schools in the B1G but definitely will snatch up the top 3 ACC schools not going to the SEC.

Miami may be a bigger market than Tallahassee, but FSU isn't just broadcast in Tallahassee, they draw HUGE numbers in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa/St. Pete, and yes, even Miami. FSU has better television numbers than Miami and draws more FSU fans in their own stadium than they do their own.

BIG10 & PAC12 should have just merged & created a BIG10 East & BIG10 WEST division while adding a few other schools well. The travel is going to be ridiculous for these "student athletes" (YEA RIGHT!) but money is the only concern these days. I remember when the NCAA basketball tourney made a conscious effort to group teams as locally as possible to reduce travel budget for schools in the tourney. I can't imagine what it will be now with nationwide conferences! Football isn't so bad with one game per week, but the other sports are going to feel the brunt of constant travel across the country. Hope the "student athletes/school employee's" can keep up with their classroom participation!!!

I can't imagine the Oregon school President would be very happy about that. That's why I don't see anything higher than half shares till 2030, These are academic types and the school Presidents understand they don't want to create discourse between it's new partners. Plus it would be an automatic four no votes from the west coast schools.

I will be surprised if ESPN extends that ACC Media Contract by next February. That is a deadline that Commissioner Philips extended from 2022 as I recently heard. It is somewhat tentative because Phillips extended that deadline without a vote of ACC membership. ESPN could extend that ACC Contract at any time. ESPN is silent and has not done that. I guess Phillips could extend that deadline again clear up to 2027. Who knows how that will play out? The FSU court case may be the most likely avenue for an earlier ACC break-up. I think Clemson would follow FSU but the ACC is Tobacco Road & UNC is Tobacco Road. I think ESPN may verbally & legally have to pull the plug on that ACC Media Contact to shake UNC & UVa out of the ACC. That will surely happen in 2027 if not earlier.

  • @Tims_Tanks

I really think the Acc and the big12 should just implode and everybody join the big10 and sec. Ultimately creating the 2 super conferences. Now, the thing i would do is, keep everybody in divisions relative to geography. (Essentially creating divisions that look like the exsisting conferences). Everybodys 3 "non conference games becomes 3 games against foes in other divisions of the same conference. (Example would be 2000s big10 as a division, playing a conference foe in (2010s Pac12) division. Then the championship would be more of the NFL style Nfc vs Afc. Hope this makes sense as im typing... lol #GoBlue #InMooreWeTrust

@scottscottsdale7868 @grandpajim1595 I agree. I think if the B1G and SEC work up to 24 brands each, the best-of-the-rest can gather in a Big44 as third conference and form an excellent Promotion/relegation league. Determining who makes the cut to get in to the Power 2 conferences is going to be a Hunger Games bloodbath of epic proportions. :) There will a lot of disappointment and anger from those not chosen.
Although not real popular today the promo/releg system would serve to placate those who want a more “pure” B1G & SEC by allowing the weaker teams in each of those leagues to be replaced over time with stronger teams from the Big44.
The Big44 would consist of the left-overs from the ACC & Big12, the ACC, and MWC.

Nice video and lots of good for thought. I only see ESPN blowing up their ACC football deal if they can lower the cost to them. Also big ten should add NC and FSU and Miami and ND and Stanford and Cal. There could be two great divisions created for competitive balance in football. The SEC would take Syracuse and Virginia and Clemson and maybe ND and Washington State and Oregon State. Both conferences could then just control CF. Or somehow create an über division for the best sec and Big Ten football schools but allow for a relegation system. That would be epic.

Everyone is looking at this from an old media lens. Through eyes of last two expansions or as a fan. All that matters moving forward are school/team brands and associated viewership, and to lesser degree recruitment territory for both sports and regular school attendance (population shifts and impending college attendance cliff has big effect on regular school tuition). We are moving to a world where media is not sold by market but by audience. Rutgers would not make it in if they were under consideration for the future. So FSU is in and Miami is second tier invite only perhaps with FSU. Duke or Virginia may join but only with UNC. Stanford gets in only if ND agreed to join and brings them. Limited value left on the table.

The Aggies left the Big12 to get away from UT and now that UT is in the SEC I could see where the Aggies want out and away from them again. That would give the Big10 a massive flag post in Texas and the states #2 school.
A massive dream scenario, the Big10 goes to 22 and these are the 4 schools. (Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Texas A&M) if the move is to 24, then I believe the other two could be either (Virginia or Duke) and then either (Miami or Georgia Tech).

Miami is the number one area for recruiting. The Orlando area is in the top 1015 and UCF is the biggest school in the country growing in that region is the fastest growing region in the country.
